The Peoria Riverfront

A summer evening on the Peoria Illinois riverfront shows the Murray M. Baker, Interstate 74 bridge.

Peoria is finally getting its riverfront in order. Public access has improved slightly. Maybe they will "get it right" sometime soon.

April 2, 2005 - This bridge, part of Interstate 74, was closed to all traffic and will remain closed for at least 6-months. They will completely rebuild the bridge and a long section of I-74 in Peoria and East Peoria during the closure. Traffic will be a nightmare at least for a while. We all hope drivers get used to the detours and keep good thoughts while they fight our "rush-hour" traffic.

When reopened, there will be a new lighting system (brighter they say) and a new grey color, much different from the old Highway Orange it has always been. I am anxious to see it in it's new splender. I hope it all comes together (this IS Peoria, Illinois, you know) Posted by Hello

Mid-November snowstorm 2004

Our Thanksgiving snow makes a pretty back yard in Peoria. We had 4 to 6 inches in my area on Wednesday. By noontime on Thanksgiving it was mostly gone. It caused quite a mess for the evening and night travelers but sure was pretty. Posted by Hello
